I don't know who to call.

I don't know who to trust.

I don't want strangers in my home.

Nobody will come just for that.

No one will return my calls.

I'm worried about falling.

I can't do the things I used to.

The list keeps getting longer.

I can't afford what needs done.

I need to stay independent.

I want to enjoy my home again.

Frequently Asked Questions

A few things people wonder before reaching out.

What's the difference between a Steward and a handyman?

A lot.

Your handyman is:

❌ reactive - you call them when something goes wrong;
❌ unresponsive - you're lucky to get a call back;
❌ too busy - they get to you whenever they can;
❌ impersonal - you're just another invoice number;
❌ specific - they're there for one thing only;
❌ sketchy - they commonly have "iffy" backgrounds or histories;
❌ project-focused - they want big, quick profits so focus on selling projects vs. completing tasks.

On the other hand, your Steward is:

✅ proactive - maintaining your home and helping prevent problems before they become expensive repairs;
✅ responsive - quick to reply, listen, schedule, and complete;
✅ available - Members are never put on a waiting list;
✅ friendly - someone who knows you, your home, and how you like things done;
✅ attentive - offering a wide variety of services and help beyond a handyman;
✅ trustworthy - a licensed and insured local business owner for over 20 years;
✅ preservation-focused - protecting your home's value, safety, and longevity through ongoing stewardship - not one-time repairs.

Your Home Stewards exist to preserve: your home and property, and your enjoyment of it; your independence, dignity and privacy; and your peace of mind. Not many handymen can say the same.

Do I have to know exactly what I need before reaching out?

No. Most people start with a general feeling that the home is becoming harder to keep up with. We can talk through your concerns and help decide whether a conversation, 300-Point Home SnapShot™, Membership, or just the occasional service call makes the most sense.

Will I always get the same Steward?

Yes, your Steward is your Steward. They will get to know you, your home, your property, your needs and your preferences.

Is this just another monthly bill?

It can feel that way at first, which is why we focus on practical value: fewer neglected issues, fewer surprises, scheduled help, priority support, and someone familiar watching the home over time. Membership is designed to reduce stress and help small problems stay small.

Is this only for seniors?

No. This page is written for seniors and aging homeowners, but Your Home Stewards also helps adult children, busy professionals, family households, single women and mothers, and anyone who needs familiar, reliable, competent, trusted home support.

What happens during a Routine Stewardship Visit?

Every Routine Stewardship Visit is a little different because every home — and every homeowner — is different.

We usually begin with a quick conversation over a cup of coffee or around the kitchen table. We'll ask how things have been since our last visit, whether anything new has come up, and if there are any questions, concerns, or home tasks you'd like to add to your running list.

Together, we'll decide what makes the most sense to tackle that day. Depending on the visit, we might replace filters, test smoke and CO alarms, change hard-to-reach light bulbs, complete small repairs, tighten loose railings or hardware, check for leaks or other developing issues, help with technology questions, work through your to-do list, complete seasonal chores, or simply check on things we've been monitoring.

As we work, we'll explain what we're doing, answer your questions, and point out anything worth keeping an eye on—without pressure, scare tactics, or confusing technical jargon. If there's time left after the planned work is finished, we'll simply move on to the next item on your list.

Before we leave, we'll clean up our work area, review everything that was completed, discuss any recommendations or next steps, and, if you'd like, provide written notes and photos for you or your family.

Our goal is simple: every visit should leave your home a little safer, a little better maintained, and a little easier to enjoy than when we arrived.

Can I get more than (2) Routine Stewardship Visits per month?

Yes! We offer a special Platinum Club that includes (1) visit per week. All Members, regardless of their Membership level, can also request additional visits at any time via their private Member Portal.

How long is a Routine Stewardship Visit?

While we don't maintain a strict visit length, most Routine Stewardship Visits are between 60-90 minutes.

What if I only need small jobs?

Perfect. Small jobs often matter most because they affect comfort, safety, enjoyment of daily living, and peace of mind. Membership gives those small jobs a reliable place to go to be handled.

Do I need to be home during visits?

As long as we have access, no one needs to be there to greet or supervise your Steward. You'll always receive an update with details of the visit once completed so you know exactly what was done.

Can you communicate with my family?

Yes - you remain in control, and we can provide updates to an adult child or family contact as requested.

Do I have to sign a long-term contract?

No. All we require is a short (3) month commitment with your Steward. After that, you may cancel your Membership at any time. The goal is a steady relationship, not pressure. We can start with an easy conversation or a one-time 300-Point Home SnapShot™.

What if my adult child wants something I don't?

This is a common concern amongst aging parents of adult children; and is especially true when it comes to things involving loss of autonomy or privacy (such as security cameras, for example). We definitely understand your child's intention, anxiety, and their desire to make sure you're safe. However, we will never do anything against your wishes as the homeowner.

Do you provide emergency services?

No. Your Home Stewards does not provide any health, medical, transportation, or emergency response services whatsoever. In the case of an emergency, a Member must call 911.

Will you judge me? Will you tell people about my situation?

Absolutely, positively not. There is nothing about you or your family, your home or your property, or your choices or your lifestyle that would spark judgment. We do not assume, judge, or discriminate. Each Member is unique, respected, and protected; and strict confidentiality is maintained at all times.
